Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? You're not alone. Here are answers to some of the most common questions about Foundations for Connection, our courses, and the Relationship Health Assessment.

Who are these courses for?

These courses are designed for anyone wanting to understand human connection better—whether you are currently in a partnership, dating, or navigating a period of singlehood. They are especially helpful for those who want a deeper understanding of relationships but aren't sure where to begin, and who are looking for clear, practical, non-judgmental guidance.

Are these courses therapy?

No, these are purely educational. While they are grounded in the same relationship science used by therapists, they provide informational tools rather than clinical treatment. Think of it as an opportunity to better understand yourself, your partner, and the patterns that shape your relationship.

Can I take the course by myself if my partner isn't interested?

Yes. Each course can be completed individually, even if your partner is not interested in participating. You can use the material to better understand your own reactions, needs, and relationship patterns. Couples may also choose to complete the courses together or discuss what they are learning as they move through the material.

What if my relationship is in serious trouble?

While education can offer hope, it is not a substitute for crisis care. If you are facing serious safety concerns or high-conflict situations, we strongly recommend reaching out to a licensed professional therapist who can provide direct support.

Is the Relationship Health Assessment free?

Yes. The assessment is a complimentary tool we provide to help you slow down and gain a clearer reflection of your current dynamics, giving you a starting point for further learning.

How long does the assessment take?

Most people complete the Relationship Health Assessment in about 30 minutes. It's best taken during a quiet moment when you can reflect honestly on your experiences.

Will I receive a diagnosis?

No. Diagnosis is a clinical procedure performed by medical professionals. Our assessments are educational tools designed to help you recognize patterns and themes, not to label you or your partner.

How long do I have access to the courses?

Once enrolled, you have lifetime access to the course content. You can move at your own pace and return to specific modules whenever you need a refresher.

What if the courses aren't right for me?

We encourage you to begin with the free Relationship Health Assessment and explore our blog before purchasing. This gives you an opportunity to experience our approach and decide whether it feels like a good fit for your needs.

Are these courses appropriate for everyone?

The courses are designed for adults who want to better understand themselves and their close relationships, regardless of age, background, culture, faith, or relationship status. They are educational resources and may not be appropriate as the primary source of help when there are concerns involving abuse, immediate safety, severe mental health difficulties, or relationship crisis.

Can these courses replace couples therapy?

They are excellent as a starting point or a supplement to personal growth, but they are not a replacement for therapy. Education gives you the ‘map,’ while therapy often helps you navigate a specific, challenging terrain with a guide.

What if I'm single?

Learning about connection science is proactive and valuable at any stage. Understanding your own attachment patterns and relationship needs can help you build healthier future foundations from the very start.

What are the courses based on?

The courses draw from established relationship research, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy principles, and more than fifteen years of clinical experience working with individuals and couples. The goal is to translate complex relationship science into practical, understandable learning that you can apply in everyday life.
